Rebecca Lombardo is a published author, a Huffington Post blogger, contributor for The Mighty, and a podcast host. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 19. She has battled that as well as several other conditions for over 20 years.
In 2013, she attempted suicide. Grateful that she survived, she decided to tell her story in the hopes that she could help others choose a different path. In her book, It's Not Your Journey, she opens up about her real and raw emotions during the two years prior to her attempt. To help others on their journey to wellness, Rebecca also continues to write on her website and help others in her podcast, Voices for Change 2.0, airing on Left of Str8 Radio, a network of programs for the LGBT Community and Allies. Now 44 years old, she has been happily married for 16 years, and currently lives in Michigan with her husband and cats.
Rebecca volunteers because...
I have been interested in volunteering for quite some time. I don't currently drive, so it's been hard for me to find something I could do just from my keyboard. I joined Volunteer Match and found Hope Xchange. It's the perfect fit for me being that I am bipolar myself. For quite some time I've felt an emptiness of sorts because I have free time that I could be using to help people. Being a mental health advocate is a passion of mine, and I'm grateful to be able to take it to a new level with Hope Xchange.
If our suicide prevention and mental wellness programs align with your corporation's giving back and employee matching programs, please consider joining forces and becoming a Hope Xchange Corporate Sponsor. Email email@example.com to discuss the benefits associated with our sponsorship options and which may be the best fit for your organization.
