Dr. Ankita Kalraiya Program Evaluation & Fundraising Summer Intern
Meet Dr. Ankita Kalraiya
Ankita Kalraiya is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Health from San Diego State University, California with an emphasis on epidemiology. She has a Bachelors in Dental Surgery from New Delhi, India. After completing her dentistry and before deciding to work with charitable organizations, she worked with Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi and was associated with NGOs throughout her clinical practice. Ankita has worked in the medical insurance sector in India for a year before starting entering the dentistry field.
After settling in the US, she decided to pursue a degree which utilized her previous knowledge as well as expanded her educational horizons. In addition to interning with Hope Xchange and assisting with our program development and evaluations, Ankita volunteers her time at other NGOs, including Catholic charities and 211 San Diego, helping the health navigation team provide financial aid to the less privileged and working with both the LGB and veteran communities.
Ankita devotes her time for all these causes, all of which are close to her heart, hoping only to gain happiness and self-satisfaction in return. She is surging ahead towards her ultimate goal of working in infection control along with fulfilling her fondness for helping people.
Ankita volunteers because...
I believe that suicide is one horror that is spoken in hushed tones but needs to be addressed head-on as it is very real. It has claimed many lives and sadly there could be a countless reasons behind it. Hailing from a medical background and pursuing a master’s in public health has exposed me to innumerable problems prevailing in our society.
I have been trained to ease people’s pain. I have learned that a little nudge, a little guidance and a few, soft soothing words can do wonders for someone who is struggling.
Helping others has always been my life’s motto. Life should be more than just a big house and a fleet of cars. I would like to take it a step further by helping people through support and psychological easement. Being associated with this amazing organization and wonderful people brings me joy as does knowing that my work is helping people and saving lives.
