Amber Caldera Fundraising Intern & Mental Health Advocate
Meet Amber Caldera
Amber’s main areas of interest are working with at risk youth, especially those at risk of suicide, and also helping those with mental health issues. She is currently getting her Master’s degree in Social Work from Simmons School of Social Work, and plans to become a licensed clinical social worker and obtain a private practice license. Amber graduated with two Bachelor degrees from California State University of Long Beach in Child Development and Family Studies and Family Life Education.
She currently works as a recovery coach at Monte Nido’s Eating Disorder Center of Newport Beach, CA, an outpatient facility for girls and women who suffer from eating disorders, supporting and mentoring her clients, redirecting their behavior, and teaching them how to maintain structure and boundaries.
Helping people and giving support to those in need is truly Amber’s passion and she strives to continue to grow and learn so that she can provide her best self to others in all of her endeavors and helping people live life feeling fulfilled, happy, and healthy.
Amber volunteers because ...
I volunteer because I believe that everyone deserves to have support, knowledge, and guidance when they are in need. I know what it is like to feel alone and uncared for and that there are no more options left but to put an end to everything. I have been there and back and that is one of the many reasons I am pursuing my Masters in Social Work and working at an eating disorder clinic.
Suicide is on the rise especially for those suffering from mental illness, youth, and the LGBTQA+ community and it breaks my heart. Everyone deserves a safe place to go to for help, a place where they will find compassion maybe for the first time in their lives. I want to help those people and let them know that it is okay to ask for help and reach out and that it is actually a sign of strength not weakness. I am so honored and excited to be apart of Hope Xchange because this is such meaningful work and each person involved is truly committed in helping anyone who asks for it.
